Why Meditation?
What do you think of when you hear the word meditation? “Oh, I can’t do that. That’s too hard for me! How could you ever think kids could do it!”
Well, think again! Meditation can be as simple as taking a deep breath and letting it out, or staring at waves on a lake or trees swaying in the breeze. Walking or being grateful, prayer and even exercise are all meditative. It is about becoming mindful of the moment, how we are feeling in the moment and learning to relax, let go and enjoy what is, right here and right now.
For children meditation can be an amazing way to help create a solid sense of self, learning about how to take care of themselves, be kind to others and expressing themselves in a healthy, positive manner.
We are a go-go-go society. Everyday starts busy and ends busy. It can be loud and stressful and often we all end up taking out our frustrations on each other, children and adults alike.
Meditation is about slowing down enough to be present enough to enjoy the fleeting moments we have with our children today. These meditations were created for a need to teach the children of the speed age how to slow themselves down to be present with themselves and the world around them, but to create a communication system where families, caregivers and children can come together to solve the challenges presented to us today.
